Here are two articles I read this morning. One is about a woman who is suing the police department because she suffered a miscarriage after she spent a night in jail. The article states that she delivered her baby boy prematurely (at 3 months) and she is suing for wrongful death. The second article is about a woman who is being sentenced for killing her friend's three children and cutting a fetus out of her friend's womb. I just thought it was interesting how clear the bias is. In one article a 7 month old fetus is referred to as an unborn child and as a fetus. In the other, a 3 month old fetus is referred to as a premature baby. Don't you love the media?

Sensationalize baby! You can't sell news if it isn't fantastic.
That's completely intentional on the APs part. Any article dealing with an intentional act that kills an unborn child - like when an enraged xbf kicks his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach until she miscarries - is going to call the baby a fetus. They can't afford to humanize it any more than that, because to do so opens the public up to calls for making it a crime to kill a unborn child. And even when politicians specifically put exceptions into the language of the bills to make it clear that they aren't talking about abortion, abortion-rights freaks go crazy. Even the hint that it might be illegal to damage/kill an unborn child without the mother's consent makes the abortion-rights freaks howl about a slippery slope.
I'll never understand it, but being able to kill your own children is the most jealously guarded right on the left. More important than the 4th amendment. Waaaaay more important than the 2nd, and the 1st, especially since the 1st amendment keeps on getting in the way of their speech codes. It's not in the constitution, but they value it more than any other freedom.
