People are so Sensitive

http://money.cnn.com/2007/02/06/news/companies/snickers/index.htm?cnn=yes

This sort of thing really pisses me off. How does "quick do something manly" promote anti-gay violence? Answer: it doesn't, and all you whiny little pansies need to shut the hell up!

Here's the ad if you don't know what I'm talking about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHkoZ7ngAM0

On topic; I watched an ABC Family movie (Lovewrecked) the other day that greatly offended me. Not because the premise was mind numbingly stupid, but because when a young man is told to massage a large woman he says "She has elephantitis" and his manager says "No she's just from the Midwest". Writing an angry letter? You bet I am! That sort of joke promotes violence against fatties!

Jesus, Anna.... learn how to add hrefs to your posts already. Naked html is so tacky. All you have to do is type: a href="url" linkname /a
With open (less than sign) and close carats (greater than sign) around the "a href=url" part, and open and close carats around the "/a" part. I'd just enter an example, but of course the comments will interpret it as html.

Then you can do fun things like put up posts that say:
Is this the next made for TV movie of the week or what?

And while Snickers may have pussied out in pulling the ads, the primary objections were to the alternate endings on the web-site, which included your choice of the guys drinking anti-freeze, or beating the shit out of each other with wrenches. Because suicide by poison and assault and battery are totally manly.

When Russ and I saw the commercial, we weren't offended so much as confused. It was a WTF moment where we both looked at each other and wondered how the hell that was going to make anyone want to eat a snickers?

The rock, scissors, paper Bud commercial though? THAT made me want to start drinking as soon as I could stop giggling.

Oh, and that Snickers commercial would have just been totally funny if they would have played the music from Lady and the Tramp in the background and riffed it off that. That's what I thought it was gonna be at first, and was all prepared to be amused. But they let me down.

ha ha, you can use html entities to put html code into comments so it doesn't get converted. Like this: <a href="URL">Here's a link!</a>. The entities are & lt ; for open bracket and & gt ; for close bracket (without the spaces). Not that you need to know any html code to put a link into a blog post since there is a little chain-link icon in the post form and all you have to do is hilight the text you want to be a link and then click the icon.
